  1. HI Evelyn,

    I live in Toronto but was born in Montreal. I have a book of genealogy starting with Philip Luce that was created by Thomas W. Luce of Osoyoos, BC
    Wondering if you have the same reference book of if your data comes from another source.

    Thanks,

    • Hi David,
      No I wasn’t familiar with that book and wouldn’t mind ordering it. I have a variety of sources and will contact you over the weekend with more info. I’m in my first few days of a new school year and brain is not in gear in the evenings!

  2. Hello David;
    I am the daughter of Melvin Luce… my grand-father was William Luce. I live in Chateauguay, Quebec and my parents live in Chateauguay, Quebec and are both still alive.
    My grand-mother was Margaret Watson who was married to William Luce. I have a geneology report from B.C. also. If I can help in anyway, please contact me.

  3. I am Dorothy Madge Lewis Ribble; Father, Hilliard Harrison Lewis; Grandfather, Elie Jean (John Lewis);
    Great Grandparents, Philippe Luce and Ann Ward. I have been researching my various ancestors actively
    for the past year. I visited Victor Luce several years ago but did not have much information for him.
    I am on Ancestry.com dLewis Family Tree…This is a work in Progress….I have been working on my mother’s
    side but not as much on the Lewis/Luce side. The information on my great grandmother, Anne Ward is fascinating.

    Thank You,

    Dottie Ribble

  4. Hi Evelyn are you related to the Philippe William Luce, the writer, who also worked at the Vancouver Herald? I only ask because I have been studying the Guernsey evacuation to England of June 1940, and have found papers that show how Philippe set up a Channel Islanders Society in Vancouver during the war, to help the Guernsey evacuees in England.

    I am writing a book about the evacuation and including a section on the Vancouver Channel Islanders society and their help to the evacuees. My website is at http://guernseyevacuees.wordpress.com/writing-my-book-blog/

  6. Hi there —

    Thomas W. Luce of Osoyoos, BC (originally from NB) was my great uncle, who went by Wilfred. He was one of the children of Phillip Luce from Lameche along with my grandfather John. Uncle Wilfred completed his book of the Luce family geneology in the 1980s, going back to the generation from the Channel Islands, and distributed it to many, many family members, driving across the country to do so, with copies of the book in his car trunk. Since then, two family members have updated it, making some corrections (with the help of the info now available through internet). If you are looking to get a copy — please contact Alden Luce in Bathurst, New Brunswick.

  7. PS: Victor Luce is I think the other family member who’s worked on the Luce ancestry, along with Alden. Sounds like I need to go to Ancestry.com and find out more.

    I am in Toronto, but my mother grew up in Bathurst/Middle River. My daughter is named Evelyne!
