Dad & Daughter – Hearts Intertwined Forever

Daniel Lawrence Harvey

1957 – 1999

Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation.

For they are us, our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life.

  1. Gabrielle,
One of the things I most remember about your father is how he was a voracious reader – and how he never stopped learning.
For instance, about a year before he passed away he spent a summer with a landscaping business and he had to pick up a lot of new skills. He noticed that I had quite a collection of gardening books and he read them all. He especially loved the Rodale Press books which were about organic gardening and such. He was good at picking up a lot of information AND retaining it and he was a great conversationalist!
    I admired that about him.

  2. Hi Gabrielle,
It’s funny but that is one of my fondest memories of him, his love of learning in general. I remember sitting in front of the television with him one day and I asked what we should watch, and he immediately changed the channel to Discovery saying that it’s really the best kind of tv you can watch – a show that will teach you something you never knew, or would have never otherwise had the opportunity to learn about in such detail.

A few other things I remember, just little things like he taught me how to blow my first bubble gum balloon, it took a lot of practice but I remember fondly how proud he acted when I finally got it. I also remember his Daffy Duck impressions, and the massive chocolate bars he’d bring to us at Halloween!

You were always so excited to go sleepover at his place because you guys cooked ‘big breakfastes’ together! He was really an awesome father, and an equally awesome uncle, and I will forever remember how positive a force he was in all our lives.

    Love,
    Your sister Francesca

  3. Oh, what joy radiates from him in that picture. He died so young, but I bet he made a lot out of the years he had. I bet you miss him a lot.
