very interesting site, i really like it! please continue your fine work. i’m in search of my relatives who are said to be Mi’kmaq indians but im having a real tough time tracking the source of a reservation my relatives may have come from. I was also told there was another tribe in the bloodline but my aunt didnt know the name. she has since passed over and so had my hopes of finding a source. my french – canadien family is all mixed but i cant seem to find the right recipe to bake the “lineage cake”. I did see some of my family names listed in the ” Native to western names “, so this gives me renewed hope… Ill be back! thanks again for this cool site! 🙂

- Looking for correct info on my Moms side Marie Radegonde Kagijonais (Mi’kmaq) 10th great grandmother,told they were born in Europe
  Birth 1600 in Micmac Nation Fort Lomer, Cap Du Sable, Nova Scotia, Canada
  Death 1679 in Lauzon, Québec,have a tremendous amount of info & have quite a few great grandmothers that were native,families started with Gravel,Hebert,Boucher,Cloutier could go on forever tho wanting to know about my 1oth. great grandmother lineage as correct as possible.

I’m looking for the name DeGrechie which, I am told by the St. John’s archivist, that they came from Jacquet River. What is the name of the band of MicMaq’s from that area?

Looking for information on Pierre Lejeune who married a Micmac indian…. traced back to 12th generation but record just has the name “Indienne Micmak” and no actual family name….later generations are Pierre Pitre, his daughter Zepherine, her daughter Emilianne Bissonnette, her son Andre Lafrance and myself, Pauline Lafrance Montague.

  I have no information about this but I must say that to my knowledge the Mi’gmaw would not have had surnames at the time.

This site is great.
I am looking for my Husband’s paternal Grandmother. Born 1895, Marie Georgianna Primeau in Beauhoise (spelling not correct) area I believe. She married Joseph Arthur Tisseur and had family. Arthur died and Georgianna got remarried to her sister’s widow, Joseph Arthur Laurent Roy de Portelance. They were killed in the 1950’s by Georgianna’s son in law Henri Lalonde, (according to the family)
I have found nothing on her death, place of burial/resting.
Any ideas where I could search for more information, would be so much appreciated.

I am wondering which bloodline my relatives belong to because my grandpa was Acadian on dad side last name Allaire and my mother’s side Delisle i would take any help from anyone. I was told we have aboriginal ties

Je n’arrive pas à trouver d’information, nulle part, sur les “Blanchette” de ma famille (côté maternel de ma grand-mère paternelle).

Ils sont liés avec les Boisvert (côté paternel de ma grand-mère paternelle), et ensuite avec les Paris par descendance.
J’ai quelques informations sur le reste de ma famille; mais rien ne ressort, peu importe OÙ je cherche, et peu importe CE QUE je cherche, pour la partie “Blanchette” de notre arbre généalogique.

Ils vivaient (je crois) dans la région d’Arthabaska, QC, autour du début du 20e siècle.

Serait-il possible de m’aider? Je suis un peu désespéré 😦
J’ai un début de document généalogique, ainsi qu’une liste manuscrite des (nombreux) enfants Blanchette… Je pourrais vous les envoyer par email, peut-être, si vous voulez? Voir si on peut trouver une petite piste, ou qqch 🙂

Hi…great information…I don’t know if I can relate it to my family…I have a Louis Lepine(1787-1862?) who married a Lisette Milabiki in 1810…they had 1 surviving girl Frances Lepine(1825-1902) who went on to marry Wm Rawson and lived most of her life in the Coldwater Ontario area…just wondering if anyone has information on Milabiki? We think she was from Oka, Deux Montagnes area…and went with Louis to Drummond Island…then Penetange/Lafontaine when the keys were handed over to the United States…

Hi there. My family have always told me I am Mohawk/Algonquin. However, when looking at the geneaology book my aunt gave me, I don’t see Mohawk/Alqonquin. I see that both my paternal parents are Miami Nation and I’m looking for documents stating this. I’m having issues obtaining documents form my great-great grandparents Jean Cleland and Victoria Boudrias(married around 1891). When looking these 2 names, it brings me to this site and I’m very confused. I did not find Jean Cleland on any census site, however, I do see a James Cleland married (with the same DoB and DoD) to an Emma Cleland with my great grandmother Marie Alice Mabel Cleland being their child along with 3 other siblings. Could Victoria and Emma be the same person? Any assistance would be great.
