The 1901 census for Sault-St-Louis recorded the Chartrand/Sabourin couple living in Caughnawaga with their children Rose Alma, Raoul and Fernanea(?). Onias Chartrand was the son of Victor Chartrand and Victoria Desjardins while Emma Sabourn’s parents were David Sabourin and Elizabeth Germain. The couple had been married in St-Charles Parish  (Lachenaie, L’Assomption, Quebec) on July 6th, 1896.

I find this interesting because most of the French Canadian couples who had leased farms in Kahnawake were from the immediate surrounding area (e.g. Chateauguay, St-Constant, Mercier).
