Query: Alexina Jolicoeur/Meloche | Rochon

This is in response to a question about the origins of a certain Alexina Jolicoeur who was married to an Olivier Rochon, and which family lore says was born on an Iroquois reservation. 

Rochon Jolicoeur MarriageOlivier Rochon (son of Cyrille Rochon and Domitilde Guay) married Alexina Jolicoeur (daughter of Olivier Jolicoeur and Odile Cote) on January 16th, 1885 in St-Jerome Cathedral in St-Jerome (Terrebonne) Quebec.

Alexina (Meloche dit) Jolicoeur was born on March 16th, 1866 and baptised one day later on the 17th, in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts (Terrebonne) Quebec. Her godparents were Moise and Archange Brisebois.


Alexina’s parents Olivier Meloche (Jolicoeur) and Aurelie (Odile) Cote were married on January 3rd, 1862 in Ste-Agathe-des-Monts (Terrebonne) Quebec. Oliver’s parents were Francois Meloche and Archange Brisebois while Aurelie was the daughter of Antoine Cote and Marguerite Page.

In case you are unaware, Ontario records show that the Rochon couple had at least several offspring in Nipissing County in Ontario (Canada).
