They Passed Through Kahnawake: Andre Newton And Marie Anne Irene Savaria

In 1911, Andre Newton, his wife Irene and their daughter Juliette were living in Caughnawaga. Juliette’s full baptismal name was Margurite Zephirine Irene Juliette Newton and she had been baptised on July 22nd, 1906 in St-Vincent-de-Paul Parish in Montreal. The baptismal certificate lists Andre’s occupation as “contre-maitre” (foreman). Irene’s maiden name was Irene Marie Anne Irene Savaria. From the census I learned that Andre was an American of Irish descent, and the was a foreman for the railway.
