I am related to Andrew Cote married to Elizabeth Wright in 1889 Buckingham Quebec. I would love to hear more about their parents.


Andrew Cote (son of Vital Cote and Janet Stewart)  and Elizabeth Wright (daughter of William Wright and Roxena ? were married on  July 2nd,  1889 in Buckingham (Papineau, Quebec) in the Presbyterian church.

Vital Cote and Janet Steward were married in the Anglican church on May 8th, 1861 also in Buckingham. Both spouses were from Buckingham.

Reader Query: Martin/Lachances of …..

Did the Martins come from Normandy area of France? My great great grandfather was born in Canada and my great grandfather George Martin was born in New Hampshire. He married Diana Lachance from St Gabriel Quebec. I think Diana was born in 1879.


I only see one Diana Lachance baptism in Quebec between the years 1865 and 1880. The date is close however it is not in St-Gabriel (Lanaudiere region). Continue reading

Reader Query: Days of Kazabazua (Alleyne, Pontiac)

My mother’s maiden name was Day, she grew up in Kazabazua Quebec, Her father’s name was Fred Day born around 1906. Would this be her relatives and what tribe would it be?


Louis Miller (son of Francis Miller and Mary Picard) married Velma Cecily Day (daughter of Fred Day and Sarah Anderson) on (1940s, exact date suppressed) in St.Antony Parish in Apple Hill (Glengarry County, Ontario).

Frederick Day (son of Henry Day and Margaret Ann Batten) married Sarah Elizabeth Anderson (daughter of William H. Anderson and Mary Carr) on February 21st, 1906 in the Anglican parish of in Alleyne in Pontiac, Quebec. The bride was from Aylwin. Continue reading

Reader Query: Dunns of Riviere-au-Renard, Gaspe

Le petit fils d’Odilon Dunn cherche de l’information de la famille de Jean-Baptiste Dunn et de Marie Cloutier…il aimerait savoir quand et ou ils sont decedes et enterres.


Jean-Baptiste Dunn (son of William Dunn and Lea Cotton), spouse of Marie Cloutier died on April 26th, 1909 at the age of 66 years and was buried in St-Martin parish in Riviere-au-Renard on April 18th, 1909.
