Lachine Rapids Descent (1889) | Surnames: Lazare, Reid, Cross-the-River

A party consisting of Big John Lazare, Joe Reid and Cross-the-River, all Indians, together with twenty-one newspaper reporters, descended Lachine Rapids in a rowboat, Monday. Big John performed the same feat on New Year’s Day eleven years ago. The boat used was thirty feet long by five feet wide.
