Some Bellevilles of St Liguori (Montcalm) | 1/2

Looking for information about my Belleville ancestors. My great-grandfather was Adelore Belleville (1870-1927). I think he was born in Saint-Liguori (Quebec) and his parents were Jean and Eveline Belleville. Adelore immigrated to Michigan, USA.  David Gustafson

The following is the only family that I have found in that area and period of time containing some of the names you’ve mentioned. If you are able to confirm that this is your family I can help you climb your family tree.  Perhaps you have the name of Adelor’s wife, or others who moved to the States with him?

Information 1

1901 Census of Canada. Subdistrict: Saint-Liguori, MONTCALM, QUEBEC District Number: 171 Subdistrict Number: h-2 Archives Microfilm: T-6532 (http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/View.jsp?id=67245&highlight=12&desc=1901+Census+of+Canada+page+containing+Ad%E9lare+Belleville)

In 1901 Jen Bapt Belleville (aged 63) and his wife Evelina (aged 58) were living in Saint-Liguori with their 2 children Harrey (aged 19), and Adelare (aged 32) and daughter (?) Angnes Belleville (aged 67?).

Information 2

This looks like the couple above.

Jean-Baptiste Guernon Belleville (widower of Philomene Lemire Lemyre) married Velina Chevalier (daughter of Pierre Chevalier and Rosalie Racette) in St-Ambroise-de-Kildaire Parish (Joliette County) on May 1st, 1865.

Information 3

This birth certificate information might be your Adolar –

J.-Adolar Guernon Belleville was born and baptized on September 25th, 1868 in St-Liguori (Montcalm, Quebec). His parents were Jean-Baptiste Guernon Belleville and Evelina Chevalier. The godparents were Urgel Grenier and Rosalie Racette.

Information 4

1911 Census of Canada Enumeration District 15: St. Liguori, Montcalm, Quebec. 9http://automatedgenealogy.com/census11/View.jsp?id=115448&highlight=60

I see a Jen Baptis Bellevil and wife Evilina living in St. Liguori with an Agnes Belleville. I see no signs of an Adelor Belleville in the region.

This is one of a series of posts organized under the heading Evelyn in Montreal where I chronicle some of the work I have done with other family historians and genealogists. Some information is original to this site but some has previously appeared at Genforum, Rootsweb and other genealogy boards. I am reproducing them here as those boards are closing down in order to preserve my connections with those family researchers.
