This is a series of micro posts about the pioneers of Shippagan in Gloucester County, New Brunswick. Each post is organized around initial information from Msg. Donat Robichaud’s Le Grand Chipagan: Histoire de Shippagan, supplemented with genealogical data from F. Theriault’s Les Families de Caraquet and is now being gradually enriched with information from other sources. These are mostly French-language sources and some aren’t easily available, so if you need more information please leave your questions in a comment box below 🙂
Jean Baptiste Paquet (son of Augustin Paquet and Catherine Tourangeau) was from St. Roch, Quebec. Jean Baptiste married Mary Marguerite Knowles (daughter of George Knowles of Norfolk, England and M. Marguerite Hudon dit Beaulieu and the couple arrived in Shippegan around 1837.
Their children included:
- Herman,
- Joseph (m. Louise Delagarde, daughter of Charles Delagarde and Venerande Robichaud),
- Michel Dosithe (m. Cesarine Sara Duguay, daughter of Vital Duguay and Angele Hebert, and then married Marie Godin, daughter of Macaire Godin and Marcelline Godin),
- Zephyrin (m. Isabella McDonald),
- Patrick, Marie (m. Bill Robichaud, son of Gervais Robichaud and Angele Mallais),
- Paul,
- Georges (m. Constance DeGrace, daughter of Pierre and Constance Mallet and then M. Helene Mallet, daughter of Eugene and Louise St. Pierre),
- Francis (m. Louise Degrace, daughter of Pierre Degrace and Constance Mallet),
- Marguerite.

I am a Paquette. Descendent of Pierre Pasquier, father of Marie Paquet (une femme du roi). My grandfather was Stanislas Paquette. I will have to take a look at our family bible for the names of my great grandparents.
