The Shippegan first couple are Edouard Courte and Prudence Duguay and they are first recorded in the census records from 1861 and 1871. their children were: Didyme (m. Philomene Chiasson, daughter of Tranquille Chiasson), Alexandre (m. Marie Holmes, daughter of Israel Holmes and Angele Comeau), Aime (m. Sara  Chiasson (daughter of Simon Chiasson and Seraphie LeBouthilier and then Elisabeth Duguay, (daughter of Eugene Duguay and Philomene St Coeur), Philomene (m. Georges Plantain), Marie, Julien, Gavotte, Xavier (m. Olive Roussel and Vitaline Mallet), Francois, Elisabeth, Genevieve (m. Nicolas Robichaud, son of Xavier Robichaud and Elisabeth Allain).
