Mathurin Langevin (dit Lacroix) arrived as one of M. de Maisonneuve’s recruits to defend Ville Marie. He was married in 1654 to Marie Renault, and later a second time to Therese Martin. Mathurin Langevin and Therese Martin had four children and three of these founded branches of the family in Montreal.
