Jean de Lalonde was from Rouen and arrived in New France with his wife Marie Barbary in 1669 and settled in Cote-St-Pierre on Montreal Island. The couple had four children. Jean died in a skirmish with the Iroquois in September of 1687. The de Lalondes descend from their two sons Jean-Baptiste and Guillaume.
