This series of Early French Canadian Pioneers microposts is dedicated to the earliest settlers of Quebec. If you are new to the genealogy of French-speaking Canadians, please be aware that the earliest French settlers can also descend from the Acadian pioneers who originally settled in what are now Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. In addition, please note that any Native related links refer back to other posts citing census, marriage or other documents with indigenous or Metis individuals of that surname, however those individuals do not necessarily descend from those particular French Canadian settlers. Filles du Roi is the name that’s been given to about 700/800 women who emigrated from France to Quebec in the middle of the 17th century. They were called the King’s Daughters because Louis XIV (King of France) had sponsored their trips to the New World. Each Fille received her passage, a hope chest and room and board until her marriage (read further at The Canadian Encyclopedia).
Marie Targer was a Fille du Roi. She was born on February 22nd, 1642 and baptized on March 2nd of the same year. Her family – including her parents Daniel and Louise Martin) were from La Rochelle (France). Marie died after March 9th, 1712.

A Canadian Family 
i was wondering if down the line their any indien blood i was told that there was for example Paul Royer married Rose Ann Lapierre who is supose to be a Algonquin in1875 on october 19 i have trace the Royer as far back as 1663 his name was Jean Royer married to Marie Targer please if you have any info e mail me to crobidas@outlook.com because not sure i can find this page again not to good with the computer SINCERLY YOUR COLETTE

i heard the same thing but not getting anywhere check with the indien affair in mattawa ont ps if you find anything out please let me know
