William Drisdelle and Marie Mallet had two children – William Guillaume born in 1826 and Anne born two years later.  Donat Robichaud lists no marriages for these Drisdelles. Continue reading

The earliest couples named Leclerc in Shippagan were Edouard Leclerc (m. Elisabeth Mallet, daughter of Joseph Mallet and Phoebe Duguay) and later (m. Marie Roussel, daughter of Henri Roussel and Melanie Basque) and finally (m. Catherine Robichaud, daughter of Dosithe Robichaud and Judith Chiasson) and Georges Leclerc (m. Louise Mallet, daughter of Euloge Mallet and Marie Theriault)

The Leclerc brothers were both sons of Joseph Leclerc and Marie Chiasson.

Richard Duke and Sara Leger are the founding Duke couple in Shippegan.

Their children included:

  • Johnny (m. Elisabeth Noel, widow of Oxibe Hache),
  • Elisabeth Betsie (m. David Cowhic, a widower from New Bandon),
  • Catherine (m. George James Chiverton, son of George Chiverton and Eliza Catherine Alexander)
  • Année (m. George Guignard, widower of Caroline Forbes),
  • Richard (m. Salome Chiasson, daughter of Jean Chiasson and Pelagie Doiron),
  • Mary Jane ( m. Pierre Roy, son of Joseph Roy and Marie Doucet),
  • Joseph (m. Marie Guignard, daughter of Michel Guignard and Archange Hache).

Most of the earliest Haches in Shippegan descended from Louis Hache and Anne Chiasson who settled in Shippagan with their three sons Joseph, Jean-Bte and Louis. Most branches of the family moved on to other areas but Robichaud gives details about one branch that were present at the time of the 1871 census. Continue reading
