Jean Valiquet dit Laverdure was in New France by 1653. He was a farmer, but also a militiaman but and skilled armourer and lock maker. He married Renee Lope in 1658 and the couple had seven children.

It’s Funny how my Last Name was Change from valiquet too velliquette in the united states after the war of 1812. my second grandfather had the valiquet last name during the war of 1812 on the American side. Then with his last son being born as Isador Toussaint, The last name was changed to Velliquete . Isadora Toussaint Velliquette was the First family member on my side of the family too be born in The united states.
