Most of the information is drawn from Fidele Theriault’s genealogical dictionary “Les Familles de Caraquet”. His book is in French and offers a lot more information including family trees of the first generations (with precise dates)  and in many cases explanations of how the first pioneers arrived in Caraquet and other fascinating anecdotes. There were two early McGraw pioneer couples.

Denis dit Deniche McGraw was the son of Denis McGraw and Esther Leblanc. He first married Priscille Savoie and the couple had two children (Marie and Honore). Continue reading

Fidele Theriault lists two early Martin pioneers – the brothers Jean-Baptiste Martin and Marcel Martin. Their parents were Beloni Martin and Angelique Pelletier. Continue reading

Jean-Rene Godin dit Valcour married about 1762 Angelique Bergeron in Cacouna and they are the parents of the Caraquet pioneers Jean Baptiste and Antoine. Continue reading
