The Montagnais Bacons descend from Louis-Denis Bacon (son of Eustache Bacon & Marguerite Rancourt) and a Metis woman Catherine Bersiamiskueu (daughter of Etienne Kamishta-Ustigan / Peltier and Gertrude Atiteru). Mixed-heritage couples include Denis Bacon who married Rose Munro (Metis), and Benjamin Bacon and Metis woman Charlotte Crepeau.  2.  My marriage database contains both Innu Montagnais First Nations individuals as well as mixed Montagnais / French marriages as listed in a study by the Communauté Métisse du Domaine du Roy et de la Seigneurie de Mingan.  Some mixed French/Montagnais descendants self-identify as Metis (see Etienne Rivard’s discussion paper).
