Staceys of Kahnawake (A Query)

Query from Cathy Piche

Joseph Isaac Normand was my Gr-Grandfather. My grandmother was Seraphine Normand, his daughter. She married Aristide Piche. I am looking for more information about their status as Metis or Quebec First Nation. The Stacey’s were her parents, but I can’t find any information about their ancestry or names. Anyone who has information, Please contact me. Thank You.

Hello!  On this site you’ll find the following which should let you get started  🙂

First of all, Stacey does exists as a surname in Kahnawake (Caughnawaga) Quebec (as well as in Western Canada among the Metis).

If you type Stacey in the search box on the front page, you’ll also see various census posts (e.g. Caughnawaga Census 1921 | Households 301 – 320).

  1. My father’s Parents were: Aristide Piche (1884) & Seraphine Adele Normand (1884). They were married 8 Aug 1904 in Blind River, On. Seraphine parents were Sophronie Beaudin/Bodin & Issaac Normand.
Quebec records show his wife’s parents were Mr. & Mrs. Stacey, but not sure of this because my Grandmother’s mother is listed as Sophronie Beaudin/Bodin (not Stacey).
    Thank You
