    • 1. In his thesis Ethnogenese des premiers metis canadiens (1601-1763), Denis Jean explains that there is a Metis lineage descending from settlers Pierre Morin dit Boucher and Catherine Vigneault who had arrived in Port Royal (Nouvelle France) in 1636 onboard the St. Jehan. One of their descendants, another Pierre Morin married a First Nations woman Anne Ouestnorouest dit Petitous about 1660. These Morins were among the founders of Beaubassin but later settled in Ristigouche.
    • 2. The earliest Algonquin Morin marriage was between Godefroi Morin (son of Francois Morin and Therese Petito dite Sincenne) and Elisabeth Lacroix (daughter of Andre Lacroix and Eulalie Makateini) [Source: Jean-Guy Paquin].
    • 3. The earliest Red River Metis Morins were Antoine Morin and Pelagie Boucher. Antoine’s parents are believed to have been Thomas Morin and Marie Therese Aubry of Maskinonge, Quebec.
