The first Savoies settled in the village of the Robichauds in an area that was eventually renamed Savoy Landing. The first settlers were Joseph Savoie and his first wife Isabelle Anastasie Robichaud (daughter of Jean-Baptiste Robichaud and Felicity Cyr) and his second wife Suzanne Roussel (widow of Jean Desroches). Goguen pioneers of Shippegan | New Brunswick genealogy

 

Theophile Goguen and his three wives – Theotiste Boucher, Philomene Boucher and Marie Gavotte Savoie were the first Goguen settlers in Shippegan.

Theophile Goguen and his first wife Theotiste  Boucher (daughter of William Boucher and Venerante Robichaud) had the following children:

  • Catherine (m. Alfred Robichaud),
  • Domitilde (m. Romain Robichaud and then Romain Doucet).

 

Theophile Goguen and his second wife Philomene Boucher (daughter of William Boucher and Venerante Robichaud) had the following children:

  • William,
  • Philippe (m. Gertrude Robichaud, daughter of Andre Robichaud and Josephine Comeau),
  • Aurele,
  • Rosanna,
  • Rosanna (m. Alex de Tratti),
  • Theophile (m. Flora Allard).

These are recent photographs I’ve taken of headstones of the nearby Catholic Cimetière de la Paroisse Saint-Clément.  This is the older of two Catholic cemeteries in Beauharnois (Quebec) and contains remains from a still older cemetery.
