Sheridan Ross left a message identifying this as the Ross Building or Ross Estate – thanks!
I’m so sad to read the message from below from Sheridan Ross indicating that this building was recently demolished. I remember the day I took this picture and had a nice long conversation with a gentleman and I had the feeling that there were lots of memories associated with this home. This is a good reminder to all of us to take lots of pictures of our hometowns because things can change really quickly!

Today they pulled this house down with bulldozers Feb 8, 2011, I know because I had to wait for the trucks to move out of the way. Glad you have a photo of it.
This is a photograph I took one afternoon a few weeks ago. It’s just one of the many traditional stone houses that can still be seen around Kahnawake (Caughnawaga). This one is just down the street from St-Francois-Xavier Church and it seems to be built in the familiar style of French -Canadian pioneer home – although I’m no expert!
If you know anything about this building,
please a drop me a line in the Comment Box below. Thanks!
