Donat Robichaud’s Le Grand Chipagan: Histoire de Shippagan, supplemented with genealogical data from F. Theriault’s Les Families de Caraquet and is now being gradually enriched with information from other sources. These are mostly French-language sources and some aren’t easily available, so if you need more information please leave your questions in a comment box below  🙂

 

The Shippegan Bulgers descend from Patrick Bulger (believed to be the son of Michael Bulger of Pokemouche) and his wife Louise (Ludivine Divine) Duguay (daughter of Francois Duguay and Madeleine Chapados). Continue reading

Bertin Family of Grande Anse | New Bandon

The Grande-Anse Bertins descend from the pioneer  Bertins of nearby Bathurst, New Brunswick through one of their sons Joseph Bertin.

The Bertins of Bathurst | New Brunswick

Bertin Genealogy

The first Bertin to settle in Canada was the Frenchman Joseph-Gabriel Bertin.  He was a sergeant with Montcalm’s troops (Languedoc regiment).   On November 10th, 1760 he married Marie-Josephe Lefebvre  in Cap-Sante, Quebec. It is their eldest son Dr. Jean-Joseph Bertin and his second wife Marguerite Pitre who would found the first New Brunswick line of Bertins. Continue reading
