These are the two earliest Paulin (Poulin) couples in Shippagan.

  • Fidele Paulin (probably from the Caraquet Paulins who descend from Jean-Baptiste Poulin of Rimouski, Quebec) and Caroline Robichaud  had the following children:
  • Alphonse (m. Obeline Chiasson, daughter of Agricole Chiasson and Marie Caissie),
  • Louis,
  • Marie (m. Jean-Bte Robichaud, son of Gervais Robichaud and Angele Mallet),
  • Beatrice,
  • Adonise Agnes (m. Fidele Duguay, son of Fabien Duguay and Veronique Mallet),
  • Augustin (m. Basilice Duguay,  daughter of Tranquille Duguay and Marie Chiasson),
  • Hortense, 
  • Georges (m. Marie Hache, daughter of Eutrope Hache and Hortense Poulin),
  • Peter (m. Elisabeth Duguay, daughter of Tranquille Duguay and Emilie Carey)
  • Francois

 

Romain Poulin (m. Victoire Theriault). The couple’s children included:

  • Geoffrey (m. Elisabeth Poirier, daughter of Edmond Poirier and M. Madeleine Clement) and then (m. Marie Duguay, daughter of Vital Duguay and Angele Hebert),
  • Martin (m. Constance Mallet, daughter of Charles Mallet and Olive Drysdale),
  • Marie Philomene (m. Gervais Hebert, son of Moise Hebert and Theotiste Godin),
  • Basile (who died at a young age),
  • M. Sephonie (died in infancy),
  • Madeleine

The Smith family pioneers of Shippegan | New Brunswick genealogy

 

Thomas Smith (son of Thomas and Betsy Smith) was born in Liverpool, England. He and his wife Genevieve Robichaud (daughter of Jean-Baptiste Robichaud) had the following children:

  • Thomas (Marie Landry, daughter of Timothy Landry and Venerande Savoie)
  • Elisabeth (m. Cossette (?) of Trois-Rivieres, Quebec),
  • William (m. Marie Caissie),
  • Marguerite (m. Michel Chiasson, son of Prospere Chiasson and Madeleine Caissie, and then Adolphe Leclerc son of Jean Leclerc and Virginie Noel)
  • Charles (m. Louise Duguay, daughter of Antoine Duguay and Edesse Albert).

Joseph Goupil (son of Joseph Goupil and his third wife Barbe Poulin, daughter of Louis Poulin and Helene Chiasson)  and his first wife Cordule Brideau had the following children:

  • Charlotte (m. Osias Duguay),
  • Theotiste,
  • Victoire (m. Luc Lanteigne, son of Michel Lanteigne and Virginie Savoie)

 

Joseph Goupil (son of Joseph Goupil and  Barbe Poulin) and his second wife Rose St Coeur had these children:

  • Xavier (m. Marguerite Godin),
  • Louise (m. Isaac Robert, son of Pierre Robert and Emelie Albert),
  • Laurent (m. Domine Savoie, daughter of Daniel Savoie and Clotilde St Pierre),
  • Remi (m. Catherine Mallet),
  • Theodore,
  • Marie,
  • Domine (m. Michel Chiasson, son of Laurent Chiasson and Marguerite Caissie).

Doiron first settlers in Chaleurs Bay - Shippegan

 

The Doirons were relatively late settlers in Shippegan. You can read some historical notes about their ancestors in The Doirons | Pioneers of Caraquet.

Jean -Baptiste Doiron (son of Adrien Doiron and  Domitilde Lanteigne) and Agnes Chiasson (daughter of Prospere Chiasson and Madeleine Caissie) were married on October 18th, 1875.

They had the following children:

  • Joseph Aime (m.1904,  Agnes Chiasson, daughter of Honore Chiasson and Virginie Brideau)
  • Andre (m. 1906, Henriette Duguay, daughter of Osias Duguay and Charlotte Goupil)
  • Marie Clarisse
  • Vital (m. 1907, Marie Robichaud, adopted daughter of George F. Robichaud and Marie Duke)
  • Jean-Baptiste (m. 1910, Aurelie Duelos, formerly married )
  • Michel (m. Melvina Doiron, daughter of Joseph Alfred Doiron and Justine Doiron).

 


Notes: Mgr Donat Robichaud Genealogical and Historical Research Collection (FR): [Doiron, Mrs. Wilfred, 1957, Investigation into the drowning of J. Ozaire Gionet of Bas-Caraquet last June 27th, at 54 years old, by falling off of the Shippagan quay. Five daughters: Lubina (Mrs. Wilfred Doiron of St. Saver, Marcelline (Mrs. Robert Belliveau of Shellac), Cecile (Mrs. Edgar chiasson of Morais Office), Malvina of Morais Office]  [Doiron, Jean-Baptiste, 1952, 52 years old, formerly of Shippagan, now of Price, Quebec, found dead Saturday the 15th of November on the road for Inkerman, one mile from Shippagan. Alexandre Hebert found him and brought him to William Lumbsden’s home. The corner Dr Gauthier confirmed the death. Married, two children, veteran of two wars, leaves four brothers]

Leblanc, founding family of Shippegan New Brunswick | Genealogy of Baie des Chaleurs

 

Daniel Leblanc and Virginie Poulin (daughter of Fabien Poulin and Genevieve Robichaud) are the founding Leblancs of Shippegan. Daniel was a teacher.

Their children included:

  • Eutrope (m. Cecile Chiasson, daughter of Laurent Chiasson and Marguerite Caissie),
  • Alfred,
  • Olesine,
  • Marie,
  • Olive,
  • Emelie,
  • Delphine (m. Lange Duguay),
  • Josephine (m. Jean Chrysostome Arseneau, son of Antoine Arseneau and M. Blanche Leblanc),
  • Bruno Simon,
  • Gilette (m. Stephen Robichaud),
  • Antoinette (m. Etienne Savoie),
  • Charlotte (m. Nazaire Robichaud). On a  sad note – Genevieve Robichaud and her children Alfred, Olive and Bruno Simon all died of chickenpox in 1875/76.
