The first Lacroix in Caraquet were Jean Lacroix (parents unknown) his first wife Jeanne die Jeanneton Albert (daughter of Gabriel Lacroix and Angelique Bouthillier) and his second wife Adelaide Hebert (daughter of Jean Hebert and Rose Cyr).

The Chapadeaus | Pioneers of Caraquet

Gilbert Chapadeau (son of Michel Chapadeau and Rosalie Landry) from Paspebiac and Marie Hebert (daughter of Joseph Hebert, widow of Jacques Lanteigne) are the first Chapadeau couple in Caraquet. They had three children: Agnes (m. Hyacinthe Lanteigne, son of Xavier Lanteigne and Caroline Bouthillier), Angele and Louise (m. Adolphe Cormier, son of Bernard Cormier and Olive Landry).

Charles Poirier (probably the son of Joseph Poirier and Jeanne Arsenault) married Madeleine Landry (daughter of Jean Landry and Claire Leblanc). The couple had the following children: Joseph Hubert (m. Charlotte Legere, daughter of Olivier Legere and Marie Joseph Hebert,), Charles (m. Jeanne Bourg, daughter of Joseph Bourg and Catherine Comeau), and Marie Veronique.

Caraquet Cormier pioneersThe original Cormiers in Canada (Robert Cormier and Marie Theriault) came from La Rochelle, France. The earliest Cormier couples I have found in Caraquet are the three sons of Jean-Baptiste Cormier and Marie Theriault.

The Caraquet Heberts are from Acadia. Joseph Hebert (son of Charles Hebert and Catherine Saulnier) had married Marie-Joseph Vincent (daughter of Jean Vincent and Isabelle Michel) in Port-Lavoie (Saint Jean Island) and the couple arrived in Caraquet in the 1760s.  Their son Joseph Hebert married Theotiste Doucet and had a son Joseph Hebert who married Anne Chiasson (daughter of Pierre Chiasson and Marguerite Duguay). Alexis Landry (son of Jean Landry and Claire LeBlanc of Grand-pre, Acadia) and his wife Marie Theriault (daughter of Jean Theriault and Madeleine Bourg, also Acadians) are one of the foremost early pioneer couples of Caraquet. They had been married in 1744.

The Beaudins | Pioneer Families of Caraquet

Pioneers of CroquetThere are two couples who were the first Beaudins of Caraquet. They are Alexis Beaudin who married Salomee Lanteigne (daughter of Eloi Beaudin and Marie-Blanche Arsenault) and his brother Pierre Beaudin who married Henriette Hebert (daughter of Joseph Hebert and Anne Chiasson).

Fidele Theriault says that both brothers are believed to be the sons of Pierre Beaudin and Marie Methot of Anse-du-Cap, Grande-Riviere, Quebec. Continue reading
