These micro posts present the first generation of each of the families that established different surnames found in Caraquet, New Brunswick. Most of the information is drawn from Fidele Theriault’s genealogical dictionary “Les Familles de Caraquet”. His book is in French and offers a lot more information including family trees of the first generations (with precise dates)  and in many cases explanations of how the first pioneers arrived in Caraquet and other fascinating anecdotes. Felix Cyr (son of Pierre Cyr and Rose Gaudet) and Marthe Lambert (daughter of Jean Lambert and Rosalie Chamberland). This couple were from Quebec and we know that Felix Cyr was born in Paspebiac on September 1st, 1813. The couple had been married in Newport, Quebec on June 1st, 1837.

Felix Cyr and Marthe Lambert had two children:

  • Felix Cyr (m. 1858, Antoinette Gionet, daughter of Pierre Gionet and Helene Thebault, previously married to  Joachim Jean) and then (m. 1901, Caroline Gallien, previously married to Vital Lanteigne) and then (m. 1903, Philomene Godin, previously married to Pierre Plourde)
  • Ambroise Cyr (born September 20th, 1839 in Newport, Quebec).

Looking for information regarding Great Grandmother Olivine Falardeau-Lambert, her Father was Narcisse Falardeau. Any info would be wonderful!!   –  Pamela Young

Information

Dieudonne Lambert (son of Lazare Lambert and Rosalie Berneche) married Olivine Falardeau (daughter of Narcisse Falardeau and Hermine Laforge) on June 28th, 1886 in St-Didace Parish in Maskinonge.

Theriault m. Fortin | Evelyn in Montreal

Eugene Croteau of Massachusetts (USA) is a descendant (through his maternal line) of Lambert Theriault and Domitille Fortin who were from  St-Modeste (Riviere-du-Loup) Quebec. M. Croteau  left a message in one of the comment boxes saying that his family is  “taking a trip to Canada in the spring and are trying to find relatives”. Eugene descends from this couple through their son Wilfred Theriault who married Regina Lavoie probably in the States. Continue reading
