New Brunswick founding families - The Godins of Shippegan

 

There are three early Godin couples in Shippegan – Alexandre Godin (prob. the son of Pierre Godin  and Ann Robertson) and Anne DeGrace, Pierre Godin (son of Jean-Baptiste Godin and Rosalie Theriault) and Anne Robertson (daughter of James Robertson and Helene Morrison).

Alexandre Godin and Anne DeGrace‘s children included:

  • Felicite Godin (m. Micael LeBreton, son of William LeBreton and Marguerite Basque),

  • Philomene (m. Ferdinand Losier, son of Prosper Losier and Susanne Robichaud),
  • Joseph (m. Helene Robinson, daughter of Thomas Robinson and Olive Brault),

Pierre Godin and Anne Robertson‘s children were:

  • James (m. Philomene Hache, daughter of Sebastien Hache and Marthe Chiasson),
  • Pierre (m. Marie Leger).

Robichaud Genealogy | Founding family of Shippegan

 

Jean Baptiste Robichaud (son of Joseph Robichaud and Claire Leblanc) and Felicity Cyr (daughter of Jean Cyr and Marie Josephte Hebert) founded the Robichaud line in Shippegan. They were Acadian refugees who had ended up in St-Malo (Bretagne, France) and who were then able to make their way back to Prince Edward Island (Canada) on one of Robin’s ships.

Their children were:

  • Claire (m. Jean-Baptiste Leger, son of Oliver Leger and Josephte Hebert, then Mathurin Landry, son of Anselme Landry and Marie Bride),

  • Anastasie (m. Joseph Savoie).
  • Luce, 
  • David (m. Rebecca Savoie and then Venerande Losier),
  • Vincent, 
  • Paul, 
  • Leon (m. Blanche Dugas),
  • Charlotte (m. Edouard Savoie, son of Joseph Savoie and Madeleine Bijeau),
  • Julie (m. Ephrem Fred Blanchard and then Moise Godin)
  • Sophie,
  • Luc,
  • Augustin (m. Marie Rose Chiasson, daughter of Nicolas Chiasson and Genevieve Gionet).
