The Alberts | Pioneer Families of Shippegan

Isaac Albert (son of Isaac Albert and Osite Mailloux of Caraquet) and Marie Duguay (Germain Robichaud’s widow) were married in Shippegan in 1886. Their three daughters were (Sara (m. Elisee Gallant and Domithilde Poirier), Eugenie (m. Pierre Hebert, son of Joseph Hebert and Olive Mallet) and Cedile (m. Peter DeGrace and Constance Mallet).

The Mallets | Pioneer Families of Shippegan

Jean Mallet (son of Francois Mallet and Marie Madeleine Larocque) and Marie Josephte Duguay (daughter of Rene Duguay and Marguerite LeBreton) emigrated to Shippagan about 1791 and they were the first Mallets to settle in Shippegan. Jean’s father Francois was from Bouillon (d’Avranches) while Jean’s mother was a daughter of Francois Larocque and Marguerite Caplan. Continue reading

The Duguays | Pioneer Families of Shippegan

Francois Duguay (son of Rene Duguay and Marguerite Lebreton of Paspebiac) and Madeleine Chapados (daughter of Jean Chapados and Catherine Larocque) are the Duguay founding couple in Shippagan, New Brunswick. Francois had arrived in Shippagan in 1791 with his brother Jacquot Duguay (m. Veronique Chapados) and brother-in-law Jean Mallet. They were among those in the Acadian Diaspora who had fled from Pisiquit, towards Restigouche and finally Shippagan. Continue reading
