Caraquet Cormier pioneers

 

The original Cormiers in Canada (Robert Cormier and Marie Theriault) came from La Rochelle, France. The earliest Cormier couples I have found in Caraquet are the three sons of Jean-Baptiste Cormier and Marie Theriault.

The Parise pioneering couple descended from Quebeckers from St-Louis-de-Kamouraska. Michel-Ignace Parise was the son of Gilles Parise and Julienne Chevrier of Paris, France. He married  Angelique Michaud, daughter of Pierre Michaud and Madeleine Lalime Thibodeau. Their children included: Genevieve, Michel (m. Marie Albert, daughter of Gabriel Albert and Genevieve Bouthillier), Angelique, Marie, Rosalie, Louis, Remi and finally Agathe. Caraquet history

The Acadians Pierre Pinet (a navigator) and Marie Vienneau (daughter of Michel Vienneau and Therese Baude) were married in St. Charles-de-Bellechasse, Quebec. Pierre’s parents were Charles dit Lejeune and Marie Testard of Grand-Pre (Acadia). Pierre’s first wife had been Monique Trahan (daughter of Jean-Baptiste Trahan and Marie-Joseph Boudreau).

The Caraquet Beaulieus  descend from three marriages: Olivier Beaulieu and his first wife Marguerite Laviolette, and second wife Scholastique Mallet, daughter of Jean Mallet and Anne Gionet) and his third wife Henriette Martin. It’s believed that Olivier Beaulieu was a Quebec fisherman and was probably from Kamouraska. Continue reading
