  • Misc.:   
    • 1.  One Western Canadian  Moreau Metis lineage descends through Jonas Moreau (son of French Canadian  Baptiste Moreau and Metisse Francoise Beauchamp) and his Metis wife Cecile Desjarlais).  
    • 2.  Morrow is a common anglicization of Moreau.  
    • 3. Two Moreau women were married to Metis involved in the 1885 Resistance. They were Elise Moreau (m. Alexandre Cardinal) and Madeleine Morin (m. Edouard Pelletier).  The 1885 North-West Resistance included Metis and other indigenous peoples (Cree, Kainai, Piikani, Saulteaux and Siksika) and was in response to broken treaties, starvation and encroachment on their lands by new settlers in what are now Saskatchewan and Alberta.
