These are five early Algonquin Bernard couples from the Maniwaki region: Charles Bernard Elisabeth Vanasse, Charles Bernard (aka Racine / Louis) & Elisabeth VanasseJean-Baptiste Bernard Anne Kaiataiesha (aka Simon). Matthew / Mathias Bernard Christine Anne Partridge, Paul Bernard (aka Narrison) & Catherine Papineau [Source: Jean-Guy Paquin].   
    • 2. The Metis Nation of Ontario recognizes Nelson Bernard and Marie Catherine Papineau as a root ancestor couple. Their line descends through their offspring:  Cecelia Bernard  (m.   1. My great grandmother was a New Brunswick Bernard. Her line connects to the Wysote line down from the Boudot line.
