- a. Marcel Roy dit Comtois (son of Francois Roy & Isabelle Lafreniere, m. Ursule Jeanne Venne), was settled on the Rat River (south of St. Norbert, near Ste Agathe). He was involved int he 1870 Resistance as one of Louis Riel’s soldiers at Fort Garry.
- b. Peter (Be-yun-eesh) Roy (son of Vincent Roy & Elizabeth Lacombre, m. Philomene Chouinard) who was educated in Wisconsin (USA) and who then served as an interpreter and was involved in several Ojibway treaty negotiations. c. Chief Vincent Roy (m. Lizette) who established the Upper Red River Post and then held several posts for the North West Co, before settling on a farm at the mouth of Little Fork River. He was a signatory on the treaties of Fond du Lac.
- 3. The Metis Nation of Ontario recognizes Henri Corbiere and Marie Roy (born 1826 in West Bay as Root Ancestors. Marie Roy was Metis. Marie Roy’s husband was a trader / merchant.
