- 1. The Tuscarora (Ontario) Anderson surname was introduced by 19th century Irish settlers George and Mary Anderson.
- 2. An early western Metis couple were Thomas Anderson (son of Thomas Anderson and Catherine Landry) and Elizabeth Desmarais. They had a son – Henry Anderson who married Fanny Pocha / Paquin (daughter of Joseph Paquin and Marie Lapointe) and that couple had 6 children. The 1885 North-West Resistance by the Metis and the Cree, Kainai, Piikani, Saulteaux and Siksika peoples took place against a backdrop of starvation, broken treaties and encroachment by new settlers in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
