    • 1. Jean Baptiste Trudeau and Angelique Papanaatyhianecoe are recognized as an ancestor couple by the Metis Nations of Ontario. They have descendants through: Antoine Trudeau (m. Cecile Recollet) and Angelique Trudeau (m. Jean Baptiste Contant).
    • 2. Three Trudeaus (Antoine, J.B. and Joseph)  were signatories to the Penetanguishene Metis Petition of 1840, a historic moment in which the Metis declared themselves to be a distinct group of people and claimed rights based on that as well as the fact that they had proven their loyalty as part of the Militia. [Source: Louis Riel Institute, Lawrence Barkwell] 3. (excerpt) Jean Baptiste Trudeaux “blacksmith in the navy, settled on a park lot in Tiny Reserve, and gave the name to “Trudeaux Point”. He went to Lake Simcoe, but returned. Has two sons, Antoine, living on Tiny Reserve, and Eustache, living at Byng Inlet; also one daughter, Angelique, married to Jean Baptiste Contan, living at La Crosse, Wis., besides several grandsons living in Tiny.
