- Misc: –
- This is where I place scattered bits of information from my Archives.
- Richard Hardisty (son of Willam Lucas Hardisty & Mary Ann Allen, and grandson of Richard Disty & Margaret Sutherland) was the son of For Simpson’s Chief Factor. He unfortunately died young (Source” Gariel Dumont Institute, Link below) – “Six, a.m., May 12. — Hardisty breathed his last at five this morning without regaining consciousness. His wound was a terrible one, the wound entering the right side of the head, passing along over the ear towards the back, fracturing the skull and shattering the brain severely. He never knew what hurt him. There is general regret in the camp, Dick being a favorite. Today is the fourth day of fighting, the only apparent loss inflicted on the enemy being the loss of ammunition, and the skirmishers advanced as usual this morning.”
