Donat Robichaud’s Le Grand Chipagan: Histoire de Shippagan, supplemented with genealogical data from F. Theriault’s Les Families de Caraquet and is now being gradually enriched with information from other sources. Benjamin Hebert and Colette Scolastique Duguay are the first Hebert couple in Shippegan. He was a Quebecker and is believed to have been from the Gaspesie.

Their children included:

• Isaie (m. Catherine Pelletier),
• Angele (m. Vital Duguay and then Jean-Baptiste Paquet),
• Francois d’Assis (m. Marie Robert),
• Ferdinand (m. Sara Mallet),
• Romain (m. Elisabeth Bulger),
• Eugene (m. Marguerite Mallet).
